Textile Designing in India

Indian textile industry is appreciated around the globe for its traditional and contemporary styles of designing and production. This is because of the rich resources of the country that supports its industry.

When it comes to textile, Khadi is the fabric that represents the entire unit. It's recognized as 'Khaddar' too which is developed through the method of spinning threads on 'Charkha'. Charkha was used before independence which has now been replaced by advanced machinery specifically for the purpose of manufacturing and production of Khadi and other fabric. Still India remembers the famous Khadi movement lead by Mahatma Gandhi with the objective of discouraging Indians from the use of foreign clothing.

Khadi was considered as an exclusive fabric by rural people and political leaders during pre-independence period. Even today, it's used for special occasions by elite classes, most of them being associated with the political groups. Silk and Khadi both are remarkable of simplicity, luxury and royalty.
