Ladies Jackets

With fall and winter weather looming close at hand, the time is ripe for shopping for ladies jackets - and there are so many to choose from that narrowing down your choices to just one or two is often the most difficult part of the entire process. Let's look at how you can purchase the right jacket for the season.

Light or Heavy

You may want to decide on whether you want a light jacket or a heavier jacket before you go to the store or look online at the options that are available. Many people like to have a light jacket on hand for those days when there is just a hint of chilliness in the air - or for wearing to the office where you might be stuck in a section of the building that seems to get more air from the central air unit than you prefer. A light jacket is great for rainy days, too. A heavier jacket is a great alternative to wearing an actual coat, and is not as bulky if you have on a sweater. Heavier jackets can be substituted in most cold weather situations for a coat, although if it's truly cold, like during a snowstorm or blizzard, a heavy jacket might not provide as much warmth as you're looking for. It's nice to have both a light jacket and a heavier jacket on hand so that you're prepared, no matter what the weather throws at you.

Materials

There are a plethora of materials that you might choose when shopping for ladies jackets. Some of the most popular are:
- Tweed
- Polyester
- Cotton
- Fur or faux fur
- Leather
- Denim
- Suede

The material that your jacket is made out of will have a lot to do with how comfortable you are when you have the jacket on. For example, leather can be supple, but many leather jackets are stiff and uncomfortable. Tweed can be itchy if you don't have on a long sleeve shirt beneath. Take all of this into consideration when purchasing your jacket so that you'll actually get your money's worth - and not end up just stashing your jacket in the closet and not wearing it.

Best Time to Buy

All clothing stores typically discount the previous season's jackets in the spring months when people begin to shed their long sleeves and coats in lieu of cooler options. You can also find fall preview sales in the July and August that will feature ladies jackets at prices that you can more easily afford.
