Small textile manufacturers

The SME sector in India, accounting for 95% of all industrial units and contributing around 40% of industrial production and exports, is a key driver of the country’s economic growth. Of late, various technological hardships have constantly hindered the growth of this sector.

In a bid to boost technological knowledge and improve global competency among Indian SMEs, the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC), along with Microsoft India had launched a 5-year project namely ‘Project Vikas’ in 2007.

Under the guidance of Project Vikas, Microsoft India and the Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) through its Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), G-Tech Info Solutions (Intl.) Private Limited (GTISPL), introduced new enterprise software solutions for small and mid-sized textile manufacturers at TEA.

“This new online software solution will definitely help the textile exporters and manufacturers in Tirupur to employ best business solutions, consequently enhancing their productivity over the coming years,” says A Sakthivel, president of TEA.
