Men's Ski Pants Buyer's Guide

Ski pants are designed to keep you warm and protect you on slopes. When buying ski pants it's important that you buy a pair that will conform to all your needs. One thing to keep in mind when buying a pair is what the conditions are like where you will be skiing. If they are harsh conditions you may want to consider a top brand that has thick layers and will give you the protection you will need. One of the most important things is to always stay warm. Men's ski pants utilize a few things to keep you warm and dry when skiing like layering, insulation, and water proofing.

Layering is one of the most important parts of a good pair of ski pants. Most ski pants have multiple layers of different fabrics that all are important to keeping warm and dry. Usually, the more fabrics, the better. They all have a specific role whether it's keeping you warm or keeping you dry, layering is very important.

The inner layers of the pants are made for insulation. This is another very important thing to look for when buying pants. Insulation is usually cotton or polyester and comes in a variety of forms to protect and keep you warm. This is important to look at because it shows what type of weather they will be good for.

Having a pair of skiing pants that are waterproof is another thing to look for when buying a pair. Almost all of them will at least have some water proofing but some are better than others. They should all have a label to tell you the water proof rating. If you're skiing somewhere warm where the snow is melting it is important to have water proof pants.

Make sure you always consider all your options before buying men's ski pants. You will get what you pay for so don't be cheap. You will regret it later on. It may seem good to go cheap but when you cold and soaking wet you will be sorry. Always consider weather factors and choose what's best for you.

Overview of Carhartt Work Pants

If you're looking for a pair of durable and rugged work pants, Carhartt pants may be your first choice. The American company (all clothes are union-made) has produced work clothing for rail workers, miners, lumber workers and more since 1889.

But, despite their noble beginnings and strong union ethic, are their clothes any good? Will they endure through a messy job site? For a broad overview of Carhartt, keep reading.

Pants Price Point

If you're looking for a pair of basic Carhartt jeans, you're in for a treat - they're exceptionally affordable and will rarely set you back more than $30, including taxes. For specialty pants like waders, you can expect to pay between $65 and $125.

Heavier items like matching jackets or insulated pants will often cost more thanks to the additional materials, insulation and weight. You can usually expect to pay just over $100 for a matching jacket and about $70 for insulated or waterproof pants. In short, the prices are comparable and very decent.

Are They Comfortable?

Because Carhartts are made for work wear, they tend to be very stiff and almost industrial-feeling. The stitching is double stitched, the material is heavy weight and the pants are not comfortable however. To fix the problem, try running your new pants through a few wash cycles.

Quality and Durability

These are clothes made for work, meaning workers expect them to withstand a daily beating and stay intact. Probably the best feature of these clothes are how they stand up to washing.

The best part? They wash well - a good pair of Carhartts can be dropped in the washing machine and come out almost as good as new, without shrinking, fading or losing their shape.

In short, these pants are some of the most rugged and durable available today. If you work a rigorous or labor-focused job, these pants are a great choice with their heavy-weight material and double stitching.

Dyeing A Leather Seat

Resurfacing a leather seat in your automobile with today's leathers require a real technique and the right leather dye to achieve a professional job. There are 2 types of leather that I have seen and worked on in today's leather car seats. You have suede leather or as some call it the soft leather and you have the finished leather which is mostly what you see. The leather dyes you use are completely different too. Aniline dye is used with the soft stuff and a water borne urethane dye for the finished leathers, both mixed with premium tannery pigments. Resurfacing leather applies to the finished leather, when you dye suede the aniline dye is a penetrating dye, so heres the right way to apply dyes to a finished leather seat.

The process of resurfacing leather takes certain steps to follow, which if not followed correctly, will cause the dye to lift and peel from the seat. As I have always stressed in all my articles is the prepping process. The only way to make a dye job on a leather seat look, feel, and last is to clean it thoroughly and prep the surface for maximum adhesion of the dye. Let the leather dye do what it is designed to do, don't cover up dirt.

The way to to do this is to clean the leather seat with a scrub brush, a mild soap, and warm water to start. Scrub the seat from top to bottom, paying close attention to the creases and crevices in the seat, these are places for the dye to lift if dirt and goo is there. Wipe it down with a clean towel, again getting down in the creases.

Now the prepping process goes on. In a spray bottle mix in 5ths water, rubbing alcohol, acetone, ammonia, and TSP substitute. Spray the seat in sections starting at the lean back, and scrub the leather with a red scotch brite pad to scuff the leather just enough for the dye to adhere and to remove any more goo hiding out on the leather wiping clean as you go with your towel. This solution will also open the pours to leather and soften up the original dye for better adhesion promotion.

Once clean and scuffed apply a thin coat of grip base or sticky primer to the seat with a damp Bounty paper towel. Apply a thin coat to whole surface of the seat, basically where your going to dye is where the primer will go. Dry it with your hair dryer. This will give you a good sticky base for the dye to adhere to and make your job last.

Dyeing the leather seat takes finesse and good gun control, the dye needs to be applied in thin coats drying between coats or the dye will not adhere properly. One way you can tell if your applying the dye to thick is when you spray you water borne dye on the seat and it "fish eyes". What this means is you will see little bubble like places in the dye when you spray it on. So thin coats and dry between each coat. Start your dyeing process on the lean back furthest from you and work your way towards you, down, and out. This helps to keep from dragging your hoses and cords over your freshly dyed seat.

Tips For Waterproofing Leather

Leather is considered to be one of the most popular materials when it comes to clothing, shoes, jackets, accessories, and similar items. Due to the fact that it is so popular, it can be quite costly. In order to ensure that the leather products you own have an increased lifespan, it is often necessary to perform some basic maintenance. One of the most common ways to increase the life of this particular material is to waterproof it. It is a known fact that leather does not hold up well once it has been exposed to moisture. The main reason for this is because water actually strips away the natural oils and chemicals that give leather the soft, yet durable, characteristics. Here, you will be introduced to the method of waterproofing leather.

Many are quite surprised to know that their leather can be protected by waterproofing it. These individuals have often experienced the remnants of a leather piece that has been dampened by moisture. They know that moisture often causes the leather piece to stain, become dry, and lose its overall durability. However, there are many products on the market for consumers who wish to add value to their leather merchandise by protecting it from the water that it may come in contact with. These products work by simply coating the product with a form of a shield that will block out moisture. These protective coats not only guard against moisture, but they also help in increasing the overall value of the product and protecting the unique workmanship and craft that was placed in the product.

There are many different types of leather. They are as follows:

o Full Grain

o Top Grain

o Plated

o Pure Aniline

o Aniline-Plus

When you are considering waterproofing leather, it is an absolute must to know what type of leather that you are working with. There are delicate leathers, and tough leathers. There are "processed" leathers, and "pure" leathers. It is important to know and understand the type of leather that you are using simply because some of the waterproofing products that are available are not suitable for all types of leather. Generally, you can find out what kind of leather you are working with by examining any tags in or on the merchandise. If you are unsure, you should consult a professional leather worker. These individuals will be able to specify exactly what you are dealing with. Then, when you buy your waterproofing product, simply read the label to ensure it is compatible with your product.

It is typical to find waterproofing products that come in a spray form, and those that come in a type of oil form. If you are implementing the use of a spray, you should adhere to the following guidelines:

1) You should start by cleaning the leather product with a soft cloth that will not scratch the surface of the product. It is important that you do not place water or other chemicals on the cloth as you clean the leather. The cloth should be completely dry.

2) The next step is to take the waterproofing spray that you will use and hold is about half a foot away from the product. You should then spray it evenly across the leather material. Once the complete product is done, you can then allow it to dry completely.

If you are using an oil-based product for waterproofing leather, you should adhere to the following steps:

1) You should scrub down the leather product to ensure that all traces of foreign matter are completely eliminated. Most individuals use a leather working brush for this.

2) The next thing that you should do is acquire a clean cloth and place a large amount of the oil based waterproofing product on it. This should then be applied directly to your leather product and worked into the material. It is important to stay balanced while doing this. All areas should be coated and worked evenly.

3) Once this is completed, take another soft cloth that is dry and wipe off the rest of the product. You can continue using the leather product within twenty-four hours.

Waterproofing leather is a relatively simple process that generally only requires a working knowledge of the type of leather product you are dealing with, and compatible waterproofing products. However, it is important to also know and understand how to apply the product. If you want to ensure that you are properly maintaining your leather, and extending the life of the piece, it is important to waterproof on a regular basis.

The Natural Beauty Of Leather

Leather is an incredibly wonderful natural fabric that's been used for thousands of years. No man made material has been able to surpass the natural beauty and toughness of leather. It can be tanned and dyed. It's tougher and lasts almost forever,if taken care of. Some leather if tooled makes beautiful wallets belts saddles rifle scabbards and other items.

Another advantages are in motorcycle clothes it gives a degree of safety in case of a spill. Leather conforms to your body like no other material.

Leather can be dyed by several methods one method is called drum dyeing a process where the item in immersed in dye and tumbled in a rotating drum. Aniline is Leather that is colored all the way through with a transparent dye. The effect is applied by immersing the leather in a dye bath. Because the finish is transparent and shows the natural markings of the leather, only the best quality hides can be used. One additional method is called Waxing, which is what the term "Waxy Cowhide" refers to. The cheapest Split Hides are occasionally run through a conveyor that uses a Wax/Dye Sublimation process to basically "melt crayons" into the hide. This can be either very expensive or very cheap, depending on how many imperfections in the hide there are and the type of machinery it's run on. There is no grain on a Waxy Cowhide and it is almost as glossy as Patent Leather, so it has very few and limited uses. Most Waxy Cowhide in Motorcycle Apparel is of the cheaper variety.

Leather - is a material created through the tanning of hides, pelts and skins of animals, primarily cows. Leather is a very important clothing material, and its other uses are legion. Together with wood, leather formed the basis of much ancient technology. Leather with the fur still attached is simply called fur.

In advertisements you may see the term distressed brown as a color. This is the natural color of the leather. All of the other colors are achieved by dyeing. When looking for leather items you may see the term Naked Leather this a term used to describe hides that are tanned and colored (dyed) but are not finished as you would normally think of. Since the finishing process is used to hide natural defects in the leather, Naked Leather hides must be hand selected for thickness, uniformity of grain, and lack of defects. Because they are unfinished, they are extremely soft to the touch and have that "broken-in" appearance and feel while still brand new. Naked Leather hides are not defect-free; they just have fewer imperfections.

Tanning is the process, where hides are chemically cured to prevent deterioration. The chemicals used in this process also enhance the flexibility of leather and improve its ability to withstand extreme humidity and temperatures. There have been recent advancements in tanning that produce even higher quality leather. Tanning is followed by another process that restores the natural lubricants lost during the conversion of rawhide into finished leather.

Nothing Equals Leather For Beauty, Function, And Versatility the qualities of leather - created by nature and preserved by the tanner - are superior to those of any man-made or synthetic material. Leather provides support. DURABILITY - Leather "breathes" allowing air in and moisture out. A natural insulator, leather protects against extremes in temperatures and humidity. BEAUTY - By its very nature, leather comes in a wide range of pleasing textures and surface patterns. It also takes well to a variety of finishing processes, designs, and color applications.

Leather Motorcycle Suit

If this is the first time you've been in the market for a leather motorcycle riding suit, or jacket for that matter, you are likely going into the experience with little information and a lot of questions. Most of motostrano customers come to us looking for a suit armed with recommendations and advice from friends, many of whom also have no idea what makes up a good fitting, quality suit. We're not asking you to ignore those recommendations or your own opinions, because they may in the end weigh the heaviest in your decision on what to buy, but take a moment to consider some new information your buddies may not be passing on to you.

A one or two piece leather suit is usually a relatively significant investment for most riders. The cost alone is the reason so many riders don't own a suit, let alone a good quality jacket. It's safe to say that a majority of street motorcycle riders ride with less than ideal riding gear. Given that fact, riding with any real protective gear other than a helmet is a step above the rest. Nevertheless, our opinion is that you should own and use the best quality riding gear that you can afford. Beyond that, your gear should fit your needs, your riding style and most of all it should fit you.

We are often asked what the difference is between the low end and high end suits. It comes down to the amount of features the suit has, the quality of the leather, the quality of the interior of the suit, the quality of the armor (if the suit features any), the type and amount of stitching in the suit. The more expensive the materials and the more time needed to make the suit, will make up the cost of the suit. Like anything, you tend to get what you pay for and poorly made suits will not only protect you less, but won't last as long just during the regular use of the suit.

Features to look for in a suit include:

* Leather type, either cowhide, kangaroo or goat

* Leather thickness and suit weight

* Type of venting and perforation features

* Type of padding and protection

* Type of spine protection, aero hump, or inserts

* Slider type and hardness

* Type and quantity of stitching

* Internal lining, removability

* Insert pockets or snap-ins for back protectors

* Stretch material used

The first thing you need to understand about motorcycle protective gear is that leather, whether cowhide or kangaroo skin, is always more protective than any type of textile (fabric) material currently available. Textile motorcycle gear is light weight and therefore comfortable, easy to get in and out of and breaths well, but there is a reason that no pro or amateur racer today is using textile gear on the track. Textile suits and jackets do not protect riders as well as leather in a crash. Today's suit manufacturers do use textile materials in parts of the suit that rarely experience impact or stress, such as under the arms, the groin and of course in the lining of a suit.

The qualities of leather make it a very difficult material to burn or tear in a crash slide situation. This isn't to say that textile jackets and pants shouldn't be owned and used for regular street riding, but of the two, leather offers more protection. Various types of leather and a wide range of leather thickness is used across all manufacturers.

Leather Furniture

Everyone has their particular tastes when it comes to different types of furniture. For many, leather is the perfect choice.

Interested in Leather Furniture?

Leather furniture can be a classy addition to your living room or den. Many consumers are turning towards leather furniture because of its attractive styling and durability. However, leather furniture is an investment and some care should be taken when selecting a piece for your home. Here are some simple tips to help you find the right choice for your lifestyle.

First, don't be afraid of getting leather furniture! It is actually four times more durable than fabric covered furniture. Leather also improves as it ages, so you won't have to worry about a piece looking worn. Leather can be used in an office space or formal setting, but families with children do not need to shy away from it. Families might want to purchase leather pieces that have unzipping cushions. This way you can remove the cushions to freshen them up or to have them replaced.

There are three different finishes on leather. Aniline is the softest of the leather choices. It is also the most expensive. It is made with no protective coating over the leather. Semi-aniline has a small amount of coating on it, and pigmented leather is fully coated. When you decide to purchase a leather piece, you will need to first think about what you are doing to do with the piece and what your lifestyle is like. The aniline leather is soft and beautifully dyed, but it is not protected from stains. A spill on pigmented leather can typically just be wiped up, but the leather is not as luxurious.

Although leather/vinyl combinations typically save you some money, they wear at different rates. The vinyl part of your couch or chair will wear quicker than your leather. For this reason, make sure that the piece you are choosing is 100% leather. Leather couches and chairs are a good furniture investment because they last much longer than fabric couches. Some people are turned off by the higher prices, but you should keep in mind that you will likely purchase two or more fabric couches in the same time span that you would keep your leather couch.

Today about half of upholstered furniture sold is made from leather. Once you have selected the right leather piece for your lifestyle, make sure you receive some education on how to properly care for your new furniture. At the time of your purchase, you should receive information regarding any care instructions specific to the furniture you bought. In general, you will just need to take a dry cloth and dust off your leather furniture every few days. You should take a vacuum with a crevice tool and clean along the bottom and in between cushions. You should use a leather conditioner every six to twelve months to keep the leather looking good and feeling soft.

Ink Stains and Gum on Leather

Have you ever had an accident with ink and leather? Or how about getting gum off of it? Well that's OK, it's not the end of the world. If you (or your kids) marked up your sofa or your car seats with a little ink stain or got some gum on your sofa, here are a few solutions for you.

The answers are not quite as easy as you might think, because there are different factors involved in each situation. For instance, with ink stains, you need to consider the type of leather and ink type. Pay attention to the type of leather you're dealing with, and everything should work out fine. Ok, here we go...

Getting Ink Stains Off Leather

When it comes to getting ink stains out of leather, ball point ink is the worst because it's oil-based. Other types of ink such as a fountain pen or roller ball tend to be easier since they are water-based. That does not mean getting the ink stain out is impossible, just that it might need different methods.

Ink is a dye. So when it makes a mark on leather, it's quickly absorbed. If the area is small, you might wait a little while to see if the leather absorbs it eliminating the mark. Because of this natural absorption, many solutions used to dissolve ink stains also affect the color of the leather. So whether you use a home remedy or professional solution, always try a small inconspicuous area before tackling the ink stain.

Home Remedies

No matter what type of ink stain, start by using a white, non-abrasive pencil eraser. Make sure the ink stain has not been moistened with water, solvent, or alcohol. Gently rub back and forth until the ink stain begins to fade. This process may need to be done several times before you see the desired results.

Once the ink stain is removed, apply a small amount of uncolored leather polish to the spot. When dry, buff with a clean cloth to shine the leather. This procedure has been found to be very successful for Ostrich, Floater, Buffalo, Alligator, Vitelino, Apache, and Caterina leather but is not a good choice for aniline leather since it has not been treated with a protective material.

Another good home remedy is using mineral spirits. Dampen a small section of a soft, clean cloth and gently rub the ink stain. If you notice the ink spreading, stop immediately. If the ink stain starts to disappear, continue and then allow the leather to dry. When dry, apply a small amount of conditioner.

You can also try dampening a soft clean cloth with hair spray, wood alcohol, a mild multi-purpose automotive interior cleaner, or a mild dish detergent and warm water, and then gently rubbing the ink stain. When dry, apply a small amount of leather polish on the spot, bringing the shine back to the leather.

Leather Work Tips

For leather work, consider the basics: an awl and spare point, a retractable X-acto knife
and spare blades, a retractable knife with a break-off blade and a rotary punch. In
addition, you'll need needles, a lump of beeswax and some waxed linen thread.

As well, a pair of pliers to pull the needle through the leather is a must, and scissors you
can use for cutting the leather. Then there are edge slickers and bevellers that are used to
finish the edges, drive punches for bigger holes and thong cutters for making laces. A
T-square, compass and yardstick are essential to ensure that your leather work is
measured accurately.

If you're just starting out with leather work, you might not want to spend a lot of money
on tools. Once you've worked with the basic set and completed a few projects, you'll
have a better idea of what tools work best and what you use most. At that point, a little
research and some comparative shopping can lead you to acquiring some better quality
tools that will enhance your leather work.

Of course, even the most expensive tools won't help if you haven't taken the time to
develop and perfect your craft. If you do your very best with what you have, it doesn't
matter if you can't afford the most expensive awl or the latest knife.
Quality will show
anyway.

Tips and Tricks:

* Start with a basic tool set.

* Buy better quality tools once you've completed some
projects and have a better idea of what will enhance the quality of your leather work.

* Study the various types of leather before starting.

Tooling Leather

There are many different types of leather available, some better than others, depending
upon the project you have in mind. Vegetable-tanned leather, also called tooling leather,
has been processed using vegetable dyes rather than chemicals. It's usually flesh-colored
and is excellent for a variety of projects, especially if the top is to be stamped or tooled.

Because it has a relatively rigid structure, this type of leather is ideal for leather work items
like book covers and belts.

Latigo

Oil-tanned leather, also called latigo, unlike other leathers, has a waxy surface and is ideal
for leather work projects where durability and flexibility are a must, such as for tack and
saddles. Avoid using it though if you don't want the finished product to have stretch and
flexibility, such as in dog collars. Bear in mind also that it can't be tooled or stamped.

Top Grain Leather

Top grain leather has one smooth side, called grain, which is the skin side, and a rough
inner side, the flesh side. Either side can be used, rough or smooth.

Chrome-Tanned Leather

Chrome-tanned leather is dyed with modern chemicals such as chromium and comes in a
variety of colors, is often white on one side, though the cut edges can be a different color
than the facing. It's relatively inexpensive, but not very breathable, and can't be tooled or
stamped because it's too soft for leather work and it's waterproof

Why Buy a Leather Sofa?

There are several reasons why buying a leather sofa makes good sense. Although they cost more in the beginning, leather sofas will outlast fabric sofas and only get more comfortable over time. As it ages, leather will develop a softer feel and patina. It is a very durable material and has been used for centuries for quality seating. Modern leather is treated and conditioned for added protection against stains and other problems.

Leather is a great material to use if anyone has allergies. It is resistant to mold and easy to clean. Use a leather protection kit to continually reinforce your store protection treatment. If you spill liquids on leather, simply wipe them up and reapply a small bit of your leather protection liquid to bring it back to full protective quality.

Leather is good even for homes with pets, as it is a tough material able to withstand most pet activity. Cat claws are one potential problem for any furniture. Since leather is a natural material, it is porous and can breathe.
A good leather sofa will have comfortable padding, and a strong frame underneath for the best wear and comfort. Eight-way hand-tied springs are the best support for any sofa. The leather itself can be made into many options from full leather to split leather and leather match materials.

When leather is processed for use it is split into top grain and split leather. The top grain is the toughest, most durable, and most expensive leather. It is without a doubt the very best leather money can buy. Split leather is the bottom half of the hide under the top grain layer.

It can be used as is, or again split into two thin layers. Sometimes split leather is used for the sides and backsides of a sofa with top grain on the surfaces you sit upon and feel, such as seats, backrests and arms. Using a combination of top grain with split leather reduces the cost of a sofa.

Yet another way of making affordable leather sofas is to use split leather for the top surfaces and a matching vinyl for the sides and backsides of the furniture.

Leather Pants

leather pants are very popular with both men and women and are a suitable wear in night clubs. They give a great look and style for both causal and important occasions. Even for everyday wear, leather pants are considered very comfortable. They are light weight and will protect your legs.

Leather pants are available in various designs, finishes, textures, sizes, colors, styles and models. Five pocket jeans style, no pocket leather pants and chaps are the different styles available in both small and big sizes. There are different models of leather pants; they are double or single pleated leather pants, multi pocket leather pants, suede pants, key leather pants, perforated leather pants and contrast stitch pants. There will be an embroidered flap in a pair of original leather pants. Motorcycle leather pants may give the rider more protection while riding a motorcycle. These leather pants come in three models, leather shorts, leather breeches and long leather trousers. Medieval leather pants are of smooth dark brown finish, lined to below the knee with metal buttons and lacing to be worn with boots. The waist can be adjustable with buckled straps and cinching gussets on each side. The Buffalo hide leather pants is another high quality pants for men and women.

Leather pants are made from the leather of animals like lamb, sheep, goat, deer, etc. Most of the leather pants are manufactured from red deer leather. The red deerskins of two are needed for a single pair of leather pants. The leather of the animal is tanned with oil, "train oil" to make the leather soft and comfortable to wear.

The features of leather pants include belt loops, side adjusting laces, fly front with zipper and snap, and pockets front and back. Most of the leather pants are tight at the waist for a better fit and this helps to avoid cold or water from getting inside the pants.

Most manufacturers get their goods from outside of the United States from countries like India, Pakistan or China. Chinese leather is cheap and not very durable and suppliers prefer this as the competition is very high. So, be careful when you buy cheap leather. There are also patch work leather, Italian Stone and Diamond Plate, made from scraps or inferior leather.

Leather Furniture For Active Families

Leather Myths:

"I can't buy leather, we have small children"

"I have leather because of our kids, now nothing bad can happen to the furniture".

Both myths!

I certainly agree that leather can be a great choice for active families with children of any age. In fact, my wife and I have 3 active kids ages 5, 8 and 11 and we own leather.

BUT I think you need to keep a few things in mind to enjoy leather furniture with an active family:

1. Buy the right leather- We've been over this already in other articles, but it is very important that you buy the right leather for your family. You want a quality,mid-grade finished leather. It will handle the stresses and spills of normal family life very well. Most stains should sit right on the surface of the leather and give you ample time to wipe them away without staining your leather.

2. Know what to expect- Yes leather can be great for families. At the same time, truth be told, too many of my service customers call me because of a problem related to having an active family. But many of these damages can be prevented if you know what to expect in advance. Here are the top problems that I see so you may prevent them:

* Ink damage- Often I see a budding little artist who wants to practice their drawing skills on the leather. Keep an eye out for it.

* Seams broken at the top back attached pillows- This one is caused when a family member, usually an older child and friends, leap over the back of the sofa or leans down on the back of the top cushions and breaks the stitching loose. So have the kids jump on a trampoline, not the leather furniture.

* Nailpolish/remover- Often I see leather that has been discolored when "someone" (when it happens nobody ever will admit it) spills nail polish or nail polish remover on the leather.

* Bodily fluids- Wipe up spit-up, urine, blood, ect soon and you shouldn't have a problem, but if these fluids are allowed to sit on your leather for hours, they can remove the finish color.

* Moisture- Same with other liquids. Most liquids will wipe easily off of nice finished leather if you remove them in a reasonable time frame. Exceptions can be wet bathing suits, wet,salty/cold snow boots or hot liquids. Keep these off.

3. React quickly if possible- As I explained in the last point, most non-corrosive liquids only become a problem on your leather if let to sit. So wipe up stains in a reasonable time frame and the leather should be fine. If ink stains your leather, it will set into the leather in a matter of a few hours to a few days. It is much easier to remove ink if you get to it quickly. If a puncture or tear were to occur, having someone fix it quickly is also important. Tears can spread either through the stress of normal wear or because small, inquisitive fingers pick at them. So solve small problems with your leather quickly and they won't become big ones.

Relax and enjoy- All that I've said is meant to help you prepare for the worst. But for the most part, just enjoy your leather set. Quality, mid-grade, finished leather is a good choice for the family. Stains and wear that would destroy a fabric set will be easy clean-up for leather. Don't worry, plastic swords, balls, elbows, small belts and shoe buckles will not scratch or tear quality finished leather.

Great Tips to Keep Toddler Shoes Looking Clean and New

I love to shop for toddler shoes. I have to admit shoes have been a weakness of mine since I was young. I used to spend all of my allowance on shoes. Every dime of my money went on shoes. I had to have every color you can imagine, and not to mention LOTS of them. Shoes can make or break an outfit in my opinion. Yes this even applies to toddlers. Their outfit can look so cute with those perfect shoes. I am so picky when it comes to my son's clothes and shoes. So you can understand why I feel the same pertaining to his shoes.

Boys are a little different than girls when it comes to toddler shoes. Girls may tend to have more shoes than some boys. (Except for my son, it can get rather ridiculous.) Never the less, it is possible to make their shoes last and look neat at all times. Yes, believe me because it is true. I am living proof that my methods work. My son is now 3 years old. I have resold EVERY SINGLE PAIR of his shoes since he has been born. That is a correct and true statement, EVEN his play shoes. I have been able to basically re-sell the old and buy new with the money I made from the sale. Not only that, my son looks great TOO!!

I bet you are wondering how this is accomplished. Well it is actually very simple. The first step is that it should be important to you. You may not care about re-selling their old shoes to save money. I am a very practical stay at home mom and I live for saving a dollar. I like to save money any way possible, especially with my sons clothing and his shoes. It is easy and fun to do at the same time. Go ahead and try it Moms and Dads!! What do you have to lose? You only have to gain.... Saving money.

Money Saving Tips for Toddler Shoes

  • Have Good Shoes and Play Shoes - That is correct. Never only have one pair of shoes for your child. Having only one pair makes it easy to wear them out faster because they will have nothing to alternate with. Keep the nice expensive shoes for good shoes and buy less expensive ones for play. Yes this is possible. Remember that you will keep the play shoes just as nice as the good shoes. Sometimes you may not be able to tell the difference between my son's play shoes and good shoes.
  • Wipe their shoes off at the end of every day - I know what you're thinking, I am a crazy woman. Well I may be, but I am a smart crazy woman in my opinion. All you have to do is wipe off their toddler shoes with a diaper wipe or a wet paper towel every night. This way you stay on top of the mud or dirt. It really does make a difference. I even have my 3 year old wiping off his shoes, it's funny. Trust me it helps keep their shoes clean, and benefits you in the long run.
  • Wash their shoes often in the washing machine - That is correct. At least once a week, you can take the laces out and spray the shoes with Shout and throw the shoes and laces in the washing machine. This is what is really great about buying all white shoes. It's easier to wash them because you can use bleach and they really come out clean. For colored shoes you can pick up some Color Safe Bleach and add that to the load. Bleach is great and helps the shoes to stay nice and bright.
    • Special note: Make sure you check the label on the shoes. There are certain materials or leathers that cannot be washed in the machine.

  • Air Dry their Toddler Shoes only - The dryer can mess up your shoes. So I recommend that you allow their shoes to air dry only. This is why you want to have multiple pairs of shoes. It may take a day or two to completely dry so you need an alternative pair or pairs for them to wear while you have a pair drying.

Now is that really so bad? Of course not, it does take a little effort but it is well worth it. By using these methods I have been able to re-sell my son's shoes on E-bay or even have taken them to consignment shops. Either way I have made money back on shoes that he wore and turned around and bought new. When he goes up a size in shoe, I sell the old, and buy new. It is that simple. So take care of their toddler shoes. I know they are kids. Trust me my son runs and plays in his shoes like all the other kids. I just take the time to keep them neat and clean. It is very important to me. So give it a try, you'll be happy you did.

Look Stylish With Western Jackets

Western jackets form a fashion statement in themselves. In film and various other media, these jackets have been used to project an image of casual elegance and style. Over the years, therefore, leather jackets have become a mainstay in the world of fashion, as well as in the wardrobe of most fashion conscious people, around which an entire ensemble could be built.

Hollywood stars from Marlon Brando to Brad Pitt, have at some point or the other, sported this classic article of clothing, which is part of the reason why these jackets have become all the rage, and retained their fashion value for so many years.

Apart from the basic protection they provide to the wearer, leather western jackets have been incorporated as fashion statements, and today there are a vast number of choices available in terms of material, design and even color, when it comes to leather jackets.

Some of the design options available are:

Classic leather jackets - which also comes in a variety of alterations.
• Leather trench coats

Perhaps it is because of this versatile and adaptable nature of the garment that it has been incorporated into fashion ensembles the world over.

How to Clean a Leather Jacket

Everyone knows that once you put in the money to getting a nice leather jacket, keeping it nice may be a bit difficult. A leather jacket has become one true fashion item that anyone could own, but more popular in the motorcycle industry.

Leather seems to be one of those pieces of clothing that you own that can be one of the most difficult items to clean. So when you go out and spend over $100 on a nice leather jacket, you don't want to destroy it by cleaning it the wrong way. When you decide you want to own a leather jacket be prepared to do anything to keep it in tip top shape.

If you'd like to know how you can clean your leather jacket keep on reading as we are offering several tips to help you clean your own leather jacket instead of paying someone else to do it for you.

Tips on How to Clean Leather Jacket

When a little touch up needs to be done to your leather jacket taking it to the cleaners can be quite frustrating. So instead just find a cloth that is very gentle to the touch and a spray cleaner that doesn't contain chemical substances and wipe your jacket down. This will help in getting all the dust off of the jackets outer surface.

For those that own leather processed jackets you can simply use a gentle soap and water to clean your jacket. When you are doing this though ensure that you use a gentle cloth as it could damage the outer layer of the leather.

Brushed leather is hard to come by, but when you do cleaning it can be done with the use of a mohair brush or a shoe brush like the old fashioned kind. By using either one of these tools you should have the ability to get good results every time.

If you've noticed that your jacket has salt spots on it you will quickly want to clean them off with the use of clean water. Avoid attempting to clean salt spots away with dirty or soapy water, as it will just smear things around.

Everyone drips stuff on their clothing every once and a while, but it can be more difficult to get drippings off of a leather jacket then it is to get out of a cotton shirt. If you notice that you've dripped something on to the leather jacket quickly remove the substance with a gentle brush and then clean the surface with a mild soap and warm water.

Some things that you should avoid using on your leather jacket are any waxes, silicones, and any leather preparations. Also avoid cleaning the jacket with anything that contains an alcohol substance, turpentine substance, or mineral spirits as these can severely destroy the leather jacket.

Leather jackets can be a true priced possession for any motorcyclist and taking care of your leather jacket should be done just as much as you take care of your motorcycle. If you feel there is something you can handle on your own, don't try. Take your leather jacket to someone who can do it without chancing your leather jacket from being destroyed.

With leather being the true king of style you are bound to feel luxurious when wearing a leather jacket. Harley Davidson offers various models of jackets, but there is not a huge difference in colour selection that you'd discover in a synthetic jacket.

With the vast amount of configuration options that have been designed into various models of synthetic jackets you could easily find the right jacket for you.
